Blog task 4+6

What is the purpose of a title sequence and film opening?

Title sequences introduce the film and all the makers behind it; it also aims to make the audience want to watch more from the offset. Aswell as this, it tells you the name of the film, credits and titles, it helps you understand the tone, genre and atmosphere, it gives you an intro into the characters and establishes the location.

What makes a good title sequence according to Kyle Cooper?

Kyle Cooper is accredited with 'revitalising the title sequences of flims'. He believes a good title sequence needs to dubtail into the film seamlessly and to make the viewer forget where they are and focus on the film. Cooper likes the title sequence for the film deadzone because it had simple typography and perfect music. For to kill a mockingbird, Cooper liked the sequence as it had encapsulated obsession, it was beautifully photographed and the typography was integrated.
