Taxi Driver - Martin Scorsese :

'Taxi driver'  begins with intense music that chills you; I'd expect this as it is a crime drama. The first visuals is the stereotypical steam ascending from the ground, a classic New York taxi ploughs through it and the words 'Taxi Driver' appear as it leaves the screen. Followed by a series of low notes that gives the film a eerie tone. This pulls out the very dramatic side of the film making people fearful for what they're about to watch.

American Psycho - Mary Hannon :

'American pyscho' starts off withs a crisp white background with the credits appearing as black font. Classical music is playing simultaneously and every high note a drop of red fluid falls. We then see the red fluid dropping on a surface and even though it doesn't look like blood we are led to question this as the music is mysterious and leaves the viewer suspicious of why there would even be red fluid during the title sequence. Then a knife is lifted out of nowhere and Christian Bale's name appears after (the 'American psycho'); the viewers then put two and two together and this is where the crime drama is apparent.
